BJ Reed Dogwood I

I needed to quickly capture the prints of the last Dogwood blooms of this Spring as they faded away. I gathered several blooms along with leaves to make two monoprints from a gelatin plate - one original, the other a ghost print. Bloom and leaf transfers were used to finish the composition. I loved the spontaneity and the organic feel that one gets with the gelatin plate prints. A variety of colors and thickness of threads were used for free motion quilting. This small work measures 18" by 18".
