This piece started with a whole cloth art piece. I first hand dyed cotton by folding and applied three different fabric dyes, next I discharged by screen printing, then stamped with various stamps and fabric paints. The trunk fabric is a linen blend that was dyed then discharged. Other fabrics were painted. The tree leaf appliqué was made with various frayed fabrics and threads, held in place with netting.I cut the whole cloth fabric into random pieces, curved pieced the linen fabric onto the background fabric, then reassembled into the composition. Unmarked free motion machine stitching completes the quilting. This piece measures 47 1/2" wide by 38 1/2" length and was completed in 2011.
