This quilt started with a photo of my garden poppy, I wanted to capture the beauty, shapes and colors in cloth. Additionally it was made to fulfill the final assessment piece requirement for my certificate from London's City & Guilds Patchwork and Quilting in February 2004. It is my original design, fabrics include many of my hand dyed and discharged, along with silks, linen, satins, metallics, and polys with wool batting. The prints were made from disperse dyes, with Shiva paintsticks and charcoal used for the pod stenciling. It is very heavily free motion quilted with silk, cotton, and rayon thread. It has been accepted as a finalist in Houston IQA judged show. Below is the center and a view of the full quilt which measures 50 by 50 inches.
